JAKARTA - Dozens of motorbikes crossing under Jalan Raya Cakung Cilincing, Cakung District, East Jakarta were desperate to fight against traffic on Tuesday, June 21.

The two-wheelers were determined to go against the flow to avoid traffic jams that occurred on Jalan Cakung - Cilincing, starting from the direction of Bekasi to Jakarta.

The reckless actions of dozens of motorists who went against the current were in vain. This is because members of the Cakung Police Traffic Unit who were at the location immediately dispelled them to avoid traffic accidents.

The Head of Traffic for Cakung Police, AKP Eko Aprihanto, said that the guard under Jalan Cakung Cilincing was in the context of an obedient operation carried out by the East Jakarta Traffic Unit.

"We are careless and tell us not to go against the flow. But these motorists are impatient, they continue to go against the flow. There is no (trading), we only urge it," said AKP Eko when confirmed by VOI, Tuesday, June 21.

The riders of about 30 motorbikes that went against the current finally turned their vehicles back across the correct lane.

AKP Eko explained, routine obedient operations are carried out every day by the Cakung Police Traffic Unit under Jalan Cakung Cilincing so that motorcyclists remain orderly in traffic.

"In under Cacing (Cakung Cilincing), every day we always urge the public not to go against the flow. Maybe because it is crowded, it goes against the flow, even though we have tried to make contraflow cooperation with the JTD toll road from Grand Cakung to Kelapa Gading. For class 1 cars We put it into the toll road, reducing the density that is below in the arteries," he explained.

Contraflow is also applied in the area to reduce congestion. Contraflow is made starting from the Bizpark round - TL Pupar - to the Kramayudha round which leads to Pulo Gadung. As for the implementation, one person is placed at each point of Cakung Cakung. Contraflow is applied every Monday to Friday, starting at 06.00 - 09.00 WIB.

"People are advised not to go against the flow by forbidding and ordering them to return to their lanes," he said.

Previously, the contraflow or countercurrent system was implemented in the Cakung area since last Monday, June 13. The system was implemented in front of the Grand Cakung Mall to the Cakung-Cilincing intersection.

Contraflow is held every Monday to Friday. The decision was made based on the success of the trials conducted on 3-11 February 2022.

Based on previous trials, the application of contraflow is considered quite effective in breaking down traffic density from the front of the Grand Cakung Mall to the Cakung-Cilincing intersection by 20-24 percent.
