Papuan Police Chief: Brimob And TNI Alert After KKB Looted Senpi In Napua Jayawijaya

JAYAPURA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri asked security forces, particularly Brimob and TNI, who were at posts to increase vigilance after the attack and seizure of two firearms in Napua, Jayawijaya Regency.

"I have asked Brimob and TNI posts, especially around Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency, to Nduga Regency to increase their vigilance," said Inspector General Fakhiri in Jayapura as reported by Antara, Monday, June 20.

He admitted that from the reports he received at this time, the two firearms seized from the late Brigadier General Diego Rumaropen were already in the hands of the Nduga KKB led by Egianus Kogoya.

Therefore, the Papuan Police Chief asked members of the TNI and Polri to increase vigilance and not to fall victim to both the community and members of the TNI-Polri.

Regarding the gun confiscation incident, his party will enforce the law and try to arrest the perpetrators while at the same time recovering the two firearms seized by KKB members.

"Please pray for all Papuan people and hope that this case will not be brought into the political arena because what happened is a criminal matter so that law enforcement will be carried out," said Inspector General Fakhiri.

The Napua incident began with the death of a Brimob member of the Papua Police and the disappearance of two firearms on Saturday afternoon (18/6) at around 17.00 WIT in Napua District, Jayawijaya Regency, after Danki D Brimob Wamena AKP R was asked by residents to shoot his cow in Napua .

AKP R together with Bripda Diego Rumaropen then went to the location and after shooting the cows their weapons were deposited with Bripda Diego Rumaropen. A few moments later a group of residents came and attacked the victim to death and took both firearms.

The perpetrators took two organic firearms from the National Police, namely AK101 and SSG08 (sniper).
