Political Party Assistance Funds In Karawang 3 Times Increase, From Rp. 1,500 To Rp. 5,000 Per Vote

KARAWANG - The Government of Karawang Regency, West Java, has allocated a budget for political party funding in 2022 of IDR 5,000 per vote, a more than threefold increase compared to last year.

"Previously it was Rp. 1,500 per vote, now it has increased to Rp. 5,000 per vote. So this year there is an increase of Rp. 3,500 per vote," said Head of the Karawang National and Political Unity Office, Sujana in Karawang, Antara, Monday, June 20.

He stated that in the provisions, assistance for political parties is adjusted to the votes obtained by political parties in this district in the previous election.

The value of the budgeted assistance from the Karawang APBD for political parties is adjusted to the votes obtained by each political party. So, he said, each party received assistance with a different nominal.

In Karawang Regency, currently the party that receives the least assistance from the Karawang Regency Government is the Hanura Party. The Hanura Party received assistance of around Rp. 117 million, while the most was the Democratic Party (9 seats in the DPRD), around Rp. 463 million.

"There are 11 parties that have received assistance from the Karawang Regency Government," said Sujana.

The total budget for 11 political parties in Karawang this year is around Rp. 4 billion. Next year, the total budget for political party assistance will also increase, allocated by Rp. 5.8 billion.

"The statutory provisions state that the regency government is obliged to distribute assistance to political parties," he said.

Asked whether the increase in aid for political parties was related to the political year in 2024, Sujana said that it might be related.

"Maybe it's related, maybe the goal is so that later there will be no terms of political dowry," he said.
