JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani appreciated the Smart Politics with Integrity carried out by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Muzani said this activity was very beneficial for party management as well as closing the gap in corruption in the political environment.

"We feel that today's activity is very useful, very useful for the management of political parties which are the source of the nation's leadership, both at the regional, provincial and even national levels," Muzani told reporters at the ACLC KPK building, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Monday, June 20.

According to Muzani, there were several lectures delivered by KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata, including those related to building integrity within the party.

In addition, there was also a discussion about the high cost of politics which was agreed by the Gerindra Party.

"We recognize that the democratic process in our place (expensive political costs, ed) still exists, and that should not happen," he stressed.

The Gerindra Party, continued Muzani, will try to reduce expensive political costs. Moreover, according to a lecture from the KPK, this kind of practice must be prevented.

"One of the things he reminded me was that as a source of national leadership, political parties must participate in preventing it (expensive political costs, ed). I think that is very good," he said.

Previously, Muzani along with 73 other party officials participated in the Quality Smart Politics prevention program.

Meanwhile, a lecture from the KPK will be given by the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Alexander Marwata and officials from the Deputy for Education and Community Participation of the KPK. There are a number of materials that will be given ranging from strengthening integrity to independent anti-corruption discussions.

Apart from Gerindra, there are already a number of parties participating in this activity, namely the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Crescent Star Party (PBB), and the Democratic Party.

The Quality Smart Politics program will be held from May to August both online and face-to-face at the KPK Anti-Corruption Education Center Building. This activity targets 20 parties participating in the election.
