Asabri Building Burns, Gulkarmat Officers Still Carrying Out Smoke Process

JAKARTA - The East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Sub Gulkarmat) is still struggling to extinguish the fire at the Asabri Building, Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo, Cawang Village, Kramatjati District, East Jakarta, Sunday, June 19, morning.

"The computer room caught fire. Currently the fire has been extinguished and smoke is emitting from the 5th floor," said Head of the East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Gatot Sulaeman, Sunday, June 19.

The report of the fire was received by the East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. at around 07.36 WIB. Then the officers deployed six units of fire engines to the location with 30 officers.

"The fire started at 07.45 WIB. The fire started to be localized around 07.47 WIB. The object that caught fire was the Asabri building," he said.

Even though the fire had been extinguished, smoke was still visible from the burning room unit. Officers are still carrying out the process of removing smoke and cooling at the location of the Asabri building fire.

"The situation still looks smoky," he said.

As of this writing, the cause of the fire in the Asabri building is not yet known. Gulkarmat officers are still conducting investigations and other data collection.
