Roy Suryo Reports Three Accounts After A Temple Stupa Meme Similar To Jokowi

JAKARTA - Former Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Roy Suryo reported three Twitter accounts to Metro Jaya Police. The report is the aftermath of the emergence of memes about the Borobudur Temple stupa being similar to President Jokowi's face.

"We report this condition (the emergence of memes, ed)," said Roy Suryo when confirmed, Friday, June 17.

This report was made because many people consider him to be the first uploader of the meme. In fact, the image was actually obtained from social media.

Roy said the meme of the Borobudur Temple stupa similar to President Jokowi's face first appeared on June 7. Meanwhile, he uploaded it on June 10.

"So what we report as victims are friends of the Indonesian Youth Congress and the people of Indonesia for being victims of a very unhealthy sheep fight," he said.

On that basis, Roy reported the three accounts. Moreover, the report was carried out with the aim of helping the police.

Therefore, the report can be the basis for conducting an investigation. Until later the facts of the mastermind behind the meme are found.

"Then my responsibility is at the same time my consequence as a person who is accused of participating in spreading it, so I help the police. And I offered myself to the police to help, not just be a witness. I also showed the URL. I have saved it," said Roy Suryo.

Roy Suryo's report has been received and registered with Number LP/B/2970/VI/2022/SPKT/Polda Metro Jaya.

The reported party is suspected of violating Article 28 Paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 45 Paragraph 2 of the ITE Law regarding hate speech.

Previously, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) investigated the photo maker of the Borobudur Stupa which was edited with a face similar to President Joko Widodo, who alluded to the rising entrance fee to the world heritage site.

Dedi Prasetyo said the Cyber Directorate of the National Police had moved to investigate who the perpetrator was who had made the photo. "It is being investigated and profiled by Cyber," said Dedi.
