Former Muba Regent Dodi Reza Alex Sueded By 10 Years In Prison Related To The Bribery Case Of 4 Projects At The PUPR Service

SUMSEL - The accused former Regent of Musi Banyuasin (Muba), South Sumatra, Dodi Reza Alex was sentenced to 10 years and 7 months in prison in connection with the criminal act of accepting bribes for working on four projects at the local district PUPR Service in 2021.

This claim was conveyed by the KPK Public Prosecutor during a trial at the Palembang Corruption Crime District Court (Tipikor) chaired by Judge Yoserizal on Thursday, June 16.

"We hereby demand that the panel of judges hearing this case sentence the defendant to a prison sentence of 10 years and 7 months and a fine of Rp. was quoted from Antara.

In addition, the Prosecutor also demanded that the defendant pay a replacement money of IDR 2.9 billion in 1 month, which if it is not sufficient, his property will be confiscated to be auctioned or replaced with a prison sentence of 2 years.

"This includes demanding that the political rights of the defendant Dodi be revoked for 5 years, starting from the time the defendant has finished serving his main criminal sentence," said the prosecutor.

On that occasion, the prosecutor stated that the demand was in accordance with Article 12 letter (a) or Article 12 letter (b) or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code.

Because based on the facts of the trial and the adequacy of the evidence, according to the Prosecutor, the defendant Dodi Reza Alex received an allotment of IDR 2.9 billion given by Suhandy as the contractor who won four projects at the PUPR Office of Muba Regency in 2021.

The project allotment money was given to Dodi Reza Alex through the former Head of the PUPR Office Muba Herman Mayori and the former Head of the PUPR SDA/PPK Division Muba Eddi Umari.

In this case, Herman Mayori and Eddi Umari were also named as defendants who managed the total ration money from Suhandy with a total amount of Rp. 4.4 billion. The money is distributed according to a pre-determined percentage.

In detail, the percentage distribution of the money allotment is 10 percent for the Regent, 3-5 percent for the Head of the PUPR Service, 2-3 percent for the Head of the SDA/PPK Division of the PUPR Service, including 3 percent for side dishes (ULP), 1 percent. for PPTK and other administrative divisions including treasurer.

The four projects carried out by Suhandy are the Rehabilitation of the Ngulak III Irrigation Area (IDPMIP) in Ngulak III Village, Sanga District with a contract value of Rp. 2.39 billion, the improvement of the irrigation network of the Epil Rawa Irrigation Area (DIR) with a contract value of Rp. 4.3 billion, irrigation DIR Muara Teladan with a contract value of IDR 3.3 billion and the normalization of Ulak Ria Lake, Sekayu District with a contract value of IDR 9.9 billion, with a contract value of around IDR 19 billion.

According to the Prosecutor, the defendant was legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing an unlawful act as stated in the article he was charged with.

The defendant's actions do not support the government's program to eradicate corruption and have injured public trust. The thing that became a mitigating consideration for Dodi Reza Alex was the defendant's polite attitude during the trial.

"From there, he ordered the defendant to remain in detention (at the Jakarta branch of the KPK)," he said.

Meanwhile, Judge Yoserizal closed the trial for reading the verdict of the defendant Dodi Reza Alex. The trial will continue on Thursday (23/5) next week, with the agenda of reading the plea from the defendant through his legal advisor at the Palembang Tipikor District Court.
