Surya Paloh Affirms NasDem Doesn't Always Dump Surveys Carrying Presidential Candidates, What Does It Mean?

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DPP NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, emphasized that his party did not "droop" or follow the survey results in carrying out presidential candidates (candidates) in the 2024 General Election.

"The NasDem Party does not always 'give up' on survey results in determining its presidential candidate," said Surya Paloh in his remarks at the opening of the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the NasDem Party, at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Senayan, Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, June 15.

According to him, NasDem wants to give all parties a fair chance to become a presidential candidate. A presidential candidate does not have to be the general chairman (ketum) of a political party or other official.

"Equal for all, not only the general chairman of political parties, regional heads or ministers to become a presidential candidate," said Surya Paloh.

Paloh also realized that the NasDem Party did not have sufficient requirements in an effort to advance a presidential candidate alone. So what can be done is to seek aspirations from various groups.

The plan is that the NasDem Party will propose three presidential candidates through this National Working Meeting. The proposal is the result of recommendations from the 34 Regional Leadership Councils (DPW) of the NasDem Party that conducted the National Working Meeting.

"Looking for aspirations from various circles to determine the three candidates as presidential candidates who will be promoted by the NasDem Party," said Surya Paloh.

The National Working Meeting, called Paloh, is a place to reaffirm the national politics of the NasDem Party and a political line since the party was founded.

"This working meeting does not only welcome the upcoming 2024 General Election, but is far from it. This working meeting is prepared to directly check the actualization of the readiness of all our party cadres from Sabang to Merauke," he said.
