CIREBON - The Cirebon Regency Agriculture Service (Distan) cannot ensure that the sacrificial animals sold by traders are safe from mouth and nail disease (FMD) or not, because the virus attacks quickly.

Head of the Cirebon Regency Agriculture Office, Asep Pamungkas, said that currently there are 899 cows and buffaloes in Cirebon Regency that have contracted the FMD outbreak.

In fact, when the FMD outbreak was discovered, he said, it was only in mid-May 2022.

"The spread is very fast, so the public needs to be careful when buying sacrificial animals," said Asep in Cirebon, West Java (West Java), quoted from Antara, Tuesday, June 14.

Asep also reminded the people in Cirebon to be more careful when buying sacrificial animals, because they are afraid of contracting FMD.

"We urge the public to be more careful in buying sacrificial animals," he said.

He added, during an epidemic like today, people must be careful and buy sacrificial animals near the Eid al-Adha holiday, so that it can be ascertained that the animals purchased are not infected with FMD.

Because, continued Asep, when people buy sacrificial animals well in advance, it is feared that they will contract FMD. "It will harm them," he said.
