More And More International Flights To Bali, Foreign Tourist Arrivals Reach 5 Thousand People Per Day

DENPASAR - The governor of Bali said 54 percent of Bali's economy depends on the tourism sector. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 hit Bali's economic growth with a contraction of -9.33 percent, while in 2021 it experienced a contraction of -2.47 percent.

But now the situation has improved. Visits of foreign tourists or foreign tourists, which are the mainstay of Bali's income, have begun to increase as the COVID-19 case has slowed.

"In line with the continued improvement in the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been sloping and stable, in the first quarter of 2022, Bali's economic growth has been positive at 1.46 percent," said Koster during his keynote speech at the International Summer School 2022 event at Warmadewa University, Denpasar, Bali, Monday, June 13.

Since the enactment of the new policy without quarantine and Visa on Arrival (VOA) facilities for foreign tourists from 72 countries, starting on March 7, 2022, foreign tourist arrivals (tourists) have continued to increase.

Currently, it has reached more than five thousand people arriving per day. Likewise, domestic tourists continue to increase, reaching more than 10 thousand arrivals per day through I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

"In fact, the number of direct international flights to Bali continues to increase, currently reaching 18 airlines. We all hope that the COVID-19 pandemic can continue to be managed properly, so that the momentum for the rise of tourism and Bali's economy will accelerate in the future until it reaches the level of growth, at least the same as before the COVID-19 pandemic," he added.

Koster said that learning from the pandemic which has taught Bali very important and valuable lessons, the Bali Provincial Government has made changes to the structure and fundamentals of the economy of the Island of the Gods by transforming the Balinese economy.

The way is through the economic concept of Kerthi Bali which is the implementation of the vision of Bali's development, namely Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali through the development of a planned universe towards a new era of Bali.

"That Kerthi Bali's economy is to realize an independent Bali in the economic field, based on the values of Sad Kerthi's philosophy, which was built and developed by applying eleven principles," he said.

"The implementation of Kerthi Bali's economic policy has been used as an example and document for economic transformation by the Minister of National Development Planning or the Head of Bappenas RI which was officially launched by President Joko Widodo," continued Koster.
