25 West Sumatra ASN Sentenced For Committing Violations During The Campaign Period

JAKARTA - West Sumatra Bawaslu took action against 25 State Civil Servants (ASN) who were suspected of committing violations during the simultaneous regional election campaign which will be held on December 9, 2020

Chairman of the West Sumatra Bawaslu Surya Efitrimen said the ASN violation had been followed up on the alleged violation and the recommendations had also been given to the State Civil Apparatus Commission (KASN).

"Recommendations have been forwarded to KASN and 25 ASNs violated neutrality during the campaign period," said Surya in Padang, as reported by Antara, Sunday, October 25.

He explained that the 25 ASN violations occurred during the campaign period which began on September 26, 2020. Even since the 2020 Pilkada began, his party had also taken action against 25 ASNs who violated neutrality.

So the total ASN violating neutrality to date is 50 people. "If previously there were those who declared themselves as candidates, they registered themselves with the party," he said.

Forms of violations committed by ASN include approaching political parties, declaring themselves regional heads with banners. After that, he attended the candidate's declaration and provided a form of support for social media and mass media.

Then 25 ASN who violated during the campaign period until now have not lowered their disciplinary punishment by KASN because they are still in process. Meanwhile, violations before the campaign period were mostly disciplined.

"Previously, most of them were given moderate level sanctions, namely delaying periodic salary increases and postponing promotions for one year," he said.
