Rules For 2024 Election Stages Enacted, Registration Of Candidates For Presidential Candidates End Of 2023

JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (PKPU) regulations regarding the 2024 General Election stages have been officially enacted. This rule was previously agreed upon by the DPR, the government, and the election organizers.

PKPU Number 3 of 2024 was promulgated by the Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkum HAM) Yasonna Laoly on June 9 yesterday.

"This Commission Regulation comes into force on the date of promulgation," reads PKPU Number 3 of 2024 Article 7 quoted on Friday, June 10.

There are seven articles in the regulation along with attachments regarding the stages and schedule of the 2024 General Election. One of them relates to the registration schedule for presidential and vice presidential candidates which will start from Thursday, 19 October 2023 until Saturday, 25 November 2023.

The following are the stages and schedule of the 2024 General Election as quoted from PKPU Number 3 of 2024:

Registration and verification of participants in the 2024 General Election will be held Friday, July 29, 2022 to Tuesday, December 13, 2022. Election contestants will be determined on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. Determination of the number of seats and determination of electoral districts on Friday, October 14, 2022 to February 9, 2022. Candidates for DPR members and DPRD starting Monday, April 24, 2023, until Saturday, November 25, 2023. The nominations for president and vice president will be held from Thursday, October 19, 2023 to Saturday, November 25, 2023. The election campaign period begins on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, until Saturday, February 10, 2024. The quiet period starts on Sunday, February 11, 2024, until Tuesday, February 13, 2024. The recapitulation of the vote count results starts on Thursday, February 15, 2024, until Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
