Attending The Inauguration Of The At-Taufiq Mosque, Jokowi Appears To Be Talking With Megawati

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attended the inauguration of the At-Taufiq Mosque on Jalan Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta on Wednesday, June 8. On the sidelines of the event, he had a small talk with the General Chair of the PDI-P Megawati Soekarnoputri.

Based on VOI observations in the field, President Jokowi and the first lady, Iriana, arrived at around 16.30 WIB. He arrived with a convoy which was then greeted by PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto, PDIP DPP Chairman Ahmad Basarah, Cabinet Secretary Minister (Menseskab) Pramono Anung, and Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Budi Gunawan.

Next, Jokowi entered the mosque which he would inaugurate. After entering the mosque, according to Bamusi TV's YouTube monitoring, he was seen walking with Megawati to the designated place.

While walking, the two of them had a small talk. Then, Iriana took Megawati and the event started.

At-Taufiq Mosque was built based on Megawati's thoughts. Head of Masjif Development At-Taufiq Ahmad Basarah said this process began when the function of the PDIP DPP Office on Jalan Lenteng Agung became a party school.

So that many cadres from all over Indonesia are obliged to come to party schools to participate in party regeneration.

"And, the majority of cadres are Muslims, then the need for facilities or places of worship arises. Moreover, the existing party prayer rooms are no longer adequate," Basarah said in a written statement.

"So, finally, the thought of Chairwoman Megawati emerged to provide a means of worship for her cadres who are Muslim to perform the five daily prayers, especially if they have to attend Friday prayers in congregation," he added.

Furthermore, the Chairperson of the PDIP DPP Puan Maharani who is also the Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives took the initiative to build the At-Taufiq Mosque. Later, this mosque can be used by anyone, including people in the PDIP DPP office.

"This mosque is dedicated, intended, not only as a place of worship for PDI-P cadres or party administrators who are in this Party School, but also as a means of worship for Muslims in the PDIP DPP office environment," said Basarah.

The construction of the At-taufiq Mosque was carried out on June 8 2018 then construction began in December 2018. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this mosque was only completed in July 2020.

This mosque was built on an area of 1,800 square meters with a capacity of about 400-500 worshipers. The concept of the At-Taufiq Mosque building is taken from the concept of Progressive Nusantara Islam, which is in accordance with the third Trisakti Bung Karno, namely having an Indonesian culture.

Not only that, the building of this mosque also adapts the customs of Palembang, South Sumatra, which is the area of origin of the late Taufiq Kiemas, Megawati's husband.

In addition, this mosque shows elements of Minang customs and also contains party elements.

Furthermore, the At-Taufiq Mosque has two philosophical meanings. The first is taken from the word 'Taufiq' which in Arabic means 'Wafaqa'. 'Wafaqa' is 'Irodah' or a divine provision.

Second, the word Taufiq can also contain the meaning as an abundance of grace and guidance for mankind.

On the other hand, the word At-Taufiq Mosque is also taken from the name of the late Muhammad Taufiq Kiemas, the main figure and founder of the PDIP who was also Chairman of the 2009-2013 MPR RI.
