Maluku Police Hand Over Illegal Minerba Mining Suspect To Prosecutors' Office

AMBON - Investigators of Sub-Directorate IV Tipidter of the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Maluku Police have handed over WA alias Mas Win (40), a suspect in the alleged crime of mineral and coal mining (minerba) without permission to the Maluku High Prosecutor General.

The handover of the suspect, who is a resident of the Preparation Village of Rawamangun RT 019/RW 006, Waeapo District, Buru Regency, along with evidence took place at the Ambon District Attorney's Office (Kejari), Wednesday 8.

"The suspect was handed over after the case file was declared complete by the prosecutor," said Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Police, Kombes Pol. M. Roem Ohoirat, in Ambon.

The suspect was handed over with a number of evidences including 2 gold weighing 401.48 grams. The submission of the suspect and evidence was received by the Maluku Attorney General's Office, Junet Pattiasina.

"Before the suspect is handed over to the Prosecutor's Office, a health check is carried out on the person concerned," he explained, quoted by Antara.

Mas Win was charged with using Article 158 and Article 161 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 3 of 2020 concerning Amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 4 of 2009 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining as amended in Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 11 of 2020 concerning Copyright Work.

For information, WA alias Mas Win is an illegal gold mining entrepreneur in Buru Regency. He was arrested by personnel of Sub-Directorate IV/Tipidter of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of the Maluku Police while processing gold at his home, Friday, April 8th.
