JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Gelora Party Fahri Hamzah called the New Indonesia Coalition (KIB) like an association in a patrol post. Golkar, PAN, and PPP who are members of the coalition also do not have a clear political concept.

Initially, Fahri said that KIB was inconsistent because the three parties initially admitted that they had not discussed the political figures to be promoted in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).

"There are parties that have already determined candidates. Oh, according to our congress, our general chairman must become president. It's a mess. Why mess up, because there really isn't a system," Fahri told reporters at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 7. .

"That's what I said, sometimes the elite get together without using reason, they don't use concepts, it's just like people gathering at the patrol post, you can't do that," he added.

According to him, rather than thinking about coalitions, the political elite should be more serious about thinking about the community. Moreover, Fahri said, the word coalition is considered not to be in the presidential system used by Indonesia.

Coalition, he continued, should only be used in a parliamentary system.

"So I think our elite lacks some understanding of our system. That there is no such thing as a coalition in this presidential system," said the former Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) politician.

Fahri also said the party should be in opposition to the current government. "Actually, coalitions are not allowed in the presidential system. Because that means conspiracy," he said.

He also pushed for a presidential threshold or zero percent presidential nomination threshold. The goal is that there is no coalition and every general chairperson of a political party in the country can advance.

"There is no need for a coalition. The general chairman should have the courage to run as a presidential candidate. Tell the people that those who want to be president are me," concluded Fahri.
