Head Of BNN RI Asks To Beware Of 'Narco-Terrorism' Crime

JAKARTA - Head of the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Petrus Reinhard Golose asked all elements of society to pay attention and be aware of narco-terrorism or the involvement of terrorist organizations in the narcotics trade.

"Narco-terrorism and narco-corruption crimes are very common in the United States. Of course, all elements of society need to pay attention and be aware of this, including PKN (National Leadership Training) II participants," said Golose in a statement received in Jakarta, Between, Tuesday, June 7th.

He stated this when he opened the Level II National Leadership Training (PKN) Class IX Year 2022 at the Ki Hadjar Dewantara Hall of the BNN RI Human Resources Development Center (PPSDM), Lido, Bogor, West Java, Tuesday.

The head of the National Narcotics Agency explained about the current big challenge because the drug problem is also related to other major crimes, namely terrorism and corruption.

Golose said that the crimes of narco-terrorism and narco-corruption are so prevalent in South America. This fact can be seen from the rise of clashes between gangs and the murder of law enforcement officers who handle drug cases.

Furthermore, Golose also encouraged these leadership candidates to be able to understand the evolving geopolitical and geostrategic issues. According to this three-star general, the issue of the COVID-19 pandemic has changed various aspects of life, including in the context of the situation and drug problem.

This can be seen from the increase in the prevalence of drug abuse by 0.15 percent from 2019 to 2021. This increase occurred when the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world.

"Therefore, it is necessary to examine in more detail the pattern of drug abuse and illicit trafficking so that the prevalence increases even during a pandemic," said Golose.

At the end of his speech, Golose asked PKN II participants to show their sincerity in participating in the entire series of training and be able to come up with brilliant ideas on how to eliminate the dangers of drug abuse and trafficking that threaten families, communities, nations and countries.

In line with this, the Head of the Indonesian State Administration Agency (LAN) Adi Suryanto hopes that PKN participants will not only complete training, but will be able to produce change projects that can be implemented in the wider community.

The Head of LAN also gave high appreciation to BNN RI as the only Non-Ministerial Government Institution (LPNK) that successfully implemented PKN II.

"This means that BNN RI cares about preparing reliable bureaucratic officers," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of PPSDM BNN RI Sindhu Setiatmoko hopes that this PKN II training can produce leaders who are adaptive to the challenges and burdens they face.

Through this training, he also expects the participants to have managerial competence to ensure the realization of the accountability of high-ranking pratama officials.

The PKN II activity which was held for the next 5 months was attended by participants from the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency, the National Police, the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia, the KPK, the Ministry of National Development Planning, and the Ministry of Social Affairs.
