Pickpockets Injure Passengers With Knives On Bus: Transjakarta Officials Make Sure It Won't Happen Again

JAKARTA - Transjakarta authorities will open CCTV footage on buses and Transjakarta bus stops in Semanggi, South Jakarta, regarding pickpocketing. In that way, his party will study how the action could occur and take precautions so that a similar case does not occur.

"The Director (already) asked the CCTV on the bus to be opened to clarify the incident. That's what Transjakarta did," said PT Transjakarta Corporate Communications and CSR Department Head, Iwan Samariansyah when contacted by VOI, Tuesday, June 7.

Checking the CCTV footage at the Transjakarta bus stop and around the crime scene will be checked to know for sure the chronology of the beginning of the incident.

"We anticipate that this kind of incident will not happen again," he said.

Iwan further said that PT Transjakarta had installed many CCTV surveillance cameras at every point in the Transjakarta area.

"We install a lot of CCTV on the bus and at our stops. From there you can see what really happened. This is to respond to the opinions of netizens who think that this (incident) often happens," he explained.

Iwan also emphasized that pickpockets and abuse do not often occur on Transjakarta buses. The reason, it continues to improve services to passengers.

"It is absolutely not true that there are allegations that this often happens. Because we have been very optimal in making comfort and safety for our customers," he concluded.

Previously reported, the Head of the Corporate Communications and CSR Department of PT Transjakarta, Iwan Samariansyah, confirmed that there were Transjakarta passengers who were victims of abuse due to being hit by sharp weapons.

According to Iwan, the incident occurred on Tuesday, June 7, at around 11.46 WIB at the Semanggi bus stop, South Jakarta. The incident was an attempted pickpocketing action allegedly carried out by the perpetrator with the initials S.
