Dozens Of Houses In Kudus Were Damaged By Strong Winds

KUDUS - Dozens of houses in Setrokalangan Village, Kaliwungu District, Kudus Regency, Central Java, were damaged by strong winds.

"Temporary data, it was recorded that there were 24 houses affected by strong winds," said Head of Emergency and Logistics of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Kudus Munaji as reported by Antara, Monday, June 6.

Based on the information of the affected residents, he said, the disaster occurred at around 17.15 WIB.

The incident, he said, started with rain, then was accompanied by strong winds.

As a result of this incident, 24 houses were damaged in various ways, while there were no fatalities. The damage occurred in the form of roof tiles of residents' houses which were swept away by the wind.

Therefore, he appealed to residents to remain alert to the possibility of natural disasters. In the event of a tornado, it is advisable to stay away from the corners of the room, doors, windows, and also the outer walls of the building, because high-speed winds can damage parts of the house, so these materials can endanger the safety of life.

After receiving information about the disaster, he continued, Kudus BPBD officers together with volunteers on Monday (6/6) night went to the scene to help repair the roofs of residents' houses that were damaged.

Losses as a result of the incident were estimated at Rp. 20 million because apart from the roof tiles flying and breaking, many of the roof structures of the residents' houses were also damaged.

In addition, the roofs of residents' houses that use asbestos or zinc are also carried away by the wind.
