BNPB Proposes Additional Budget Of IDR 1 Trillion For 2023 Budget

JAKARTA - Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Lt. Gen. Suharyanto proposed an additional budget for his institution of IDR 1 trillion for Fiscal Year 2023.

In a Working Meeting with Commission VIII of the DPR, the head of BNPB asked for support from the members of the council to pursue this additional proposal.

The details are for the main secretariat (settama), including payment of honorarium, maintenance of the Jati Asih Warehouse, management of the BNPB organization and the main hall, preparation of implementing regulations for disaster management.

Then for the deputies for fields 1-5, the IDRIP (Indonesia Disaster Resilience Initiatives Project) counterpart funds, then the procurement of modern technology early warning equipment.

According to Suharyanto, disasters such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and tsunamis can already be installed to detect them, and require increasingly sophisticated and modern technological equipment.

"Of course this also needs to be in a bigger budget, because if you only rely on local wisdom, usually signs from nature sometimes, the development of science is getting higher, it's not very accurate anymore," he said as quoted by Antara, Monday, June 6th.

In addition, the proposed budget is also for the provision of logistical assistance, assistance to regional pusdalops, maintenance of infrastructure, implementation of functional training and international activities, operational budget for financial managers.

It also programs disaster mitigation activities.

Therefore, BNPB requested assistance from members of the Commission VIII council to go to the regions to carry out the importance of socialization related to disaster mitigation.

The indicative ceiling of BNPB for Fiscal Year 2023 is allocated at Rp.994,186,769,000, while in 2022, BNPB gets an indicative ceiling of Rp.1,127,245,196,000.

"We report it because in 2023 the budget will be reduced by almost 55 percent from the 2022 budget," he said.

The chairman of Commission VIII of the DPR, Yandri Susanto, representing the members of the council, understands the proposed addition to the BNPB FY 2023 budget of Rp. 1 trillion.

He asked BNPB to pay attention to and follow up on the views of the leaders and members of Commission VIII to improve the socialization program for disaster mitigation in various regions.

In addition, increasing the allocation of the BNPB budget, in particular the logistics, rehabilitation, and disaster construction budget, as well as carrying out maintenance on various BNPB equipment in the regions to ensure availability and preparation for disasters.
