About Coalition Opportunities After SBY Meets Surya Paloh, NasDem: Still Prologue, This Is The First Meeting

JAKARTA - Chairman of the NasDem DPP Willy Aditya said the meeting held between the Chair of the Democratic Party's High Council Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and its general chairman, Surya Paloh, did discuss the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).

The meeting of the two political figures took place last Sunday night, June 5th. The activity was held behind closed doors at NasDem Tower, Gondangdia, South Jakarta.

"Of course, because the two parties are meeting, of course there will be talk about it (Election 2024, ed)," Willy told reporters on Monday, June 6.

Even so, Willy said the meeting did not lead to any decisions. "Still talking about the prologue. This is just the first meeting," he said.

Moreover, NasDem is now preparing to hold a national working meeting (Rakernas). Thus, all decisions related to the implementation of the election, including presidential candidates, will be decided in the event.

"We are also still waiting for the National Working Meeting to determine what NasDem's decision on the presidential candidates is because our politics is dynamic, of course everything is possible," said Willy.

As previously reported, the Secretary General of the NasDem Party, Johnny G Plate, said the meeting between SBY and Surya Paloh was held in an intimate manner. There have been a number of discussions, including those relating to the national political situation ahead of the 2024 General Election.

However, Johnny did not go into detail about the meeting. He only said that the meeting of the two was carried out in an atmosphere full of intimacy.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Strategic Communications Agency for the Democratic Party DPP, Herzaky Mahendra Putra, said that SBY's presence with AHY to the NasDem Tower was to repay Surya Paloh's visit and friendship in the United States some time ago.

"When Mr. SBY was undergoing treatment for illness at the Mayo Clinic last year. The attention and support given by Mr. Surya Paloh at that time, of course, was greatly appreciated by Mr. SBY," he said.

"Let's pray that Mr. SBY, Ketum AHY, and Mr. Surya Paloh, are always in good health, and continue to give their best contribution to the community, nation and country," added Herzaky.
