Fredrich Yunadi Submits PK, KPK Expects Judges To Knock Decisions With A Deterrent Effect

JAKARTA - Former attorney for Setya Novanto in the e-KTP mega corruption case, Fredrich Yunadi submitted a case review (PK) to the Central Jakarat District Court. PK was submitted to a convicted case of obstruction of investigation after the Supreme Court rejected his appeal and added a sentence of 7.5 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 500 million, a subsidiary of eight months.

Responding to this, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated that the PK application is indeed the right of the convicted person and later, the KPK prosecutor will provide an opinion regarding the arguments and reasons put forward by the PK applicant.

Apart from that, this anti-graft agency also believes that there are no obvious mistakes and mistakes that contradict the considerations of the previous Supreme Court decision. So, the KPK hopes that the panel of judges in this reconsideration will give a decision that can have a deterrent effect on the perpetrators of corruption.

"We hope that the Supreme Court can consider the public's expectation that a judge's decision will have a deterrent effect on corruption perpetrators," said Acting KPK spokesman for prosecution Ali Fikri in a written statement, Wednesday, October 21.

Meanwhile, according to the KPK public prosecutor (JPU), Takdir Suhan confirmed that his party would be present at the PK hearing which is planned to be held this week.

"We will attend his trial which is scheduled for Friday, October 23," Takdir said when contacted.

As a lawyer for former DPR Speaker Setya Novanto, Fredrich Yunadi was proven to have engineered an accident and hospital treatment at Medika Hospital to prevent the KPK's investigation into the e-KTP case, on November 16, 2017. Apart from that, he also conducted a judicial review at the Constitutional Court on the grounds that the process of summoning KPK investigations against DPR members must have permission from the President.
