JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said the government would form an inter-ministerial team to assess and resolve land cases, considering that there are many legal cases related to land.

"The government will soon issue a government regulation (PP) to conduct assessments, including forming a cross-ministerial team," Mahfud said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, June 2.

This was said by Mahfud after chairing a Limited Coordination Meeting between Ministries and Institutions related to the Formation of an Analysis Team for legally problematic land cases.

The coordination meeting discussed a number of legally binding verdicts in the land sector, which must be executed by the state, for which the state must pay.

"Land issues include complicated legal issues, administrative issues, land mafia issues, overlapping decisions, and so on. So, the government has decided that all these matters will be resolved as state obligations," he said.

According to Mahfud, the issuance of the PP is a follow-up to the government's response to the land mafia problem that is still on the loose. Teams involved in eradicating the land mafia at the Attorney General's Office (AGO), the National Police, and the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) are also encouraged to uncover and resolve the issue legally.

"The government is committed that we will solve this land mafia in stages," he said.
