2 Months Fugitive, 6 Killers Of Journalist Demas Laira Arrested

JAKARTA - The joint National Police team arrested six perpetrators of the murder of a journalist, Demas Laira in Karossa District, Central Mamuju, West Sulawesi. These six people were arrested after two months on the run.

Kabareskrim Polri, Komjen Listyo Sigit Prabowo, said four of the six suspects were arrested in the Karossa area, Mamuju Tengah, West Sulawesi. They are, Nawir (30), Doni (20), Haerudin (18), and Ilham (19).

"For the other two suspects, Syamsul was arrested in Gorontalo and Ali Baba in Pasangkayu, West Sulawesi," Listyo told reporters, Wednesday, October 21.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Directorate of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Ferdy Sambo said the suspects were arrested on Monday, October 20 yesterday. Based on the results of the investigation, the motive behind the murder was heartache.

"The motive for the murder was because of hurt feelings towards the victim," said Ferdy.

The hurt was because the victim was thought to have humiliated Syamsul's younger brother who was the mastermind of the murder. But it was not explained in detail about the victim's act which was considered as an act of shame.

"The victim harassed and humiliated Kartina's sister who is Syamsul's younger sister," he said.

As previously reported, Demas Laira (28) was found dead in Karossa District, Central Mamuju, West Sulawesi, on Thursday, August 20. Temporary allegations, he was the victim of murder because he was found stab wounds.

Based on the results of the crime scene (TKP), 7 stab scars were found on Demas' body. In addition, some of the victim's valuables were also allegedly missing during the incident. Several other items, such as motorbikes, were found around the scene.
