Mendikbudristek Nadiem Makarim Encourages Pancasila Education Through An Independent Curriculum

JAKARTA - The Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Makarim encourages the education of the noble values of Pancasila to be more realistic among the younger generation of the Indonesian nation. This can be done through the Merdeka Curriculum which is part of the Merdeka Learning policy.

"In line with President Joko Widodo's vision, which is to prioritize student character education as a whole based on Pancasila values, we are currently encouraging Pancasila education which is more grounded and more relevant to the younger generation through the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum," said Nadiem in Jakarta, Wednesday, June 1st.

This was conveyed by Nadiem when delivering remarks at the national seminar of the Rector's National Character Strengthening Forum (FRPKB) entitled "Embracing Soekarno-Hatta's Ideas and Ideas", as monitored through the Untirta Official YouTube channel in Jakarta, Wednesday, June 1.

According to Nadiem, the changing times have made the younger generation have different ways of interpreting the spirit of nationalism and nationalism, including in practicing the noble values of Pancasila.

According to him, the Independent Curriculum encourages learning to be simpler, deeper, independent, relevant, and interactive for all students in the country. The curriculum is useful for improving literacy, numeracy, and strengthening the character of students as Pancasila students.

He said a Pancasila student has a number of profiles, including faith and piety to God Almighty, noble character, mutual cooperation, critical reasoning, creative, independent, and global diversity.

"Now, the profiles of Pancasila students are not only taught in schools, but we also continue to campaign through educational content that is broadcast on social media channels," he said, as quoted by Antara.

In this way, according to him, the noble values of Pancasila which were initiated by the first President of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno and the first Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Moh. Hatta will be closer to the younger generation to continue the ideals of the founding fathers of Indonesia.
