JAKARTA - The roof of the Jakarta Formula E spectator stands collapsed ahead of the first week of the electric car racing event being held at the Ancol Circuit, North Jakarta.
The chairman of the Jakarta Formula E Organizing Committee, Ahmad Sahroni, said that the roof of the "grandstand" category of spectator stands collapsed on Friday, May 27, due to heavy rains that hit the capital city.
"The storm last night (27/5)," Sahroni told reporters via text message, quoted by Antara, Saturday, May 28.
According to him, there was only one roof that collapsed for the "grandstand" audience stage category.
Currently, he continued, officers were repairing the collapsed roof.
"It's being raised again. It's safe," he added.

Cost of Formula E Jakarta
The organizing committee for the Jakarta Formula E or ePrix stated that the cost of implementing the electric car racing event was in the range of Rp. 120 billion to Rp. 130 billion.

The cheapest ticket price is "Ancol Festival" IDR 250 thousand and the most expensive for the VVIP class for the "Jakarta Royal Suite" category reaches IDR 10 million.
In addition to watching the race, the committee also presented entertainment from the capital's artists as well as the DKI Jakarta MSME exhibition.
Later, the permanent circuit located in the Ancol Dreamland Park area, North Jakarta, will also be used in addition to the electric car racing agenda.
Previously, the DKI BUMD, PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) which issued the funds for the circuit construction, said that there were seven other agendas after the Formula E celebration.
"After this (Jakarta E-Prix) there are still seven more activities at the Formula E Circuit. This year, seven (activities) are 'booked'," said Jakpro President Director Widi Amanasto to reporters in Ancol, North Jakarta, Thursday ( 19/5).
Widi did not specify the activities to be held at the recently completed circuit.
However, he explained that the circuit was not only used as a car racing arena, but also for other automotive activities.
