JAKARTA - Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya asked the public to report unscrupulous traffic police (polantas) who made illegal levies or offered "peace" in 26 odd-even areas in Jakarta.

"We will also re-socialize the number of rogue traffic police reports so that these 26 areas do not become a venue for our members to transact extortion to violators," said the Director of Lantas Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Sambodo Purnomo Yogo in Jakarta, Saturday, May 28.

Sambodo said that the public can access the hotline number 081298911911 with the WhatsApp application and include photo and video evidence, so that naughty traffickers can be dealt with immediately.

He further said that currently 12 odd-even areas are equipped with electronic traffic law enforcement (ETLE) cameras to take action on odd-even violators. Meanwhile, 14 new odd-even areas are not equipped with ETLE cameras.

As one of the steps to minimize interactions between officers and violators that could potentially lead to fraud, in the 12 odd-even areas, only ETLE was enforced.

"That's why we hope that with a location with an ETLE camera, action will only be taken using an ETLE camera," said Sambodo.

Sambodo said that the Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya would propose adding an ETLE camera to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

"We propose to the provincial government that 14 other areas that do not have ETLE are the main priority for adding ETLE cameras this year or at least 2023," he said.

If the 26 odd-even areas have been equipped with ETLE cameras, then the Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya will divert personnel from odd-even areas to overcome other congestion points in Jakarta.

Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya and the DKI Jakarta Transportation Service agreed to expand odd-even areas in Jakarta from 13 areas to 26 areas and will take effect on June 6, 2022.

Odd-even operating hours will start at 06.00 WIB to 10.00 WIB and in the afternoon from 16.00 WIB to 21.00 WIB.

The odd-even rule applies Monday to Friday. While Saturday, Sunday and national holidays, odd-even does not apply.
