Beer Sponsorship In Formula E Jakarta, Committee: No Beer Sales And Logo

JAKARTA - The organizing committee for Formula E Jakarta confirmed that there was no beer company logo in the electric car racing event as a sponsor in Ancol, North Jakarta on Saturday (4/6) because it invited controversy in the community.

"It should be emphasized that there will be no sale of beer and beer company logos at the Jakarta E-Prix," said Chairman of the Formula E Jakarta Organizing Committee Ahmad Sahroni in Jakarta, Friday, May 27.

He also guaranteed that there would be no sale of beer or the logo of Heineken, a Dutch beer company that is a permanent sponsor of the global Formula E Operation (FEO) in the Jakarta E-Prix circuit area.

The politician from Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta also added that the beer company is not an official sponsor of the Jakarta E-Prix, but a global sponsor of FEO.

"Because of its nature as a global sponsor, Heineken is present in various Formula E racing series, including in Saudi Arabia," added Sahroni.

Sahroni also added that despite being a global sponsor, FEO as the organizer and Heineken are committed to upholding the values of the people in the host country or city.

For Jakarta, the sponsors will adjust to the conditions of the host of Formula E.

"The FEO, Heineken and other companies also uphold the local culture and values of the people of the countries that host Formula E. So, they will adapt to the conditions in their respective countries," he added.

His party has agreed that there is no logo for the beer company, but the logo has been replaced with the words When you drive, never drink or "while driving, don't drink".

Likewise, when celebrating victory, he continued, his party did not use alcoholic beverages as is usually done in other countries.

"We have agreed that there will be no Heineken logo in the circuit area. In addition, there will be no use of alcoholic campagne at the award ceremony," he said.
