24 Years Of Reform, Ginandjar Kartasasmita: Dissatisfied, Lots Of Oligarchy And Corruption

JAKARTA - The former chairman of the DPD RI, Ginandjar Kartasasmita, expressed his dissatisfaction with the reforms that have been going on for 24 years. Because, it appears many problems such as oligarchy to corruption.

"The question is, are we satisfied or not? That's great. I'm not satisfied," said Ginandjar during a discussion on 'Reformation and Crisis Solutions' on Saturday, May 21.

The emergence of this oligarchy is because reform has opened the door to democracy which is automatically exploited by certain parties.

Thus, a few parties are more aware of the real context of democracy than others.

"This reform has indeed opened the door to democracy for all, but groups or people or dynasties are formed who enjoy democracy more than others in an unprofessional manner, so an oligarchy is formed," he said.

Then, reforms also have an impact on the emergence of many cases of corruption. Where, there is a shift in the previously bureaucratic model of corruption to become political.

"In the past, the directors general were the heads of finance, project heads. Now it's the ministers who are corrupt, members of the DPR, the governor," he said.

"So what happened from bureaucratic corruption, there was a shift to political corruption. The corrupt are politicians," continued Ginandjar.

With a series of problems, Ginandjar was not satisfied with the reform journey. Because, reform should bring Indonesia much better than before.

"So we are not satisfied with this situation, there is oligration, there is kleptocracy. Of course we are not satisfied, who is satisfied?" said Ginandjar Kartasasmita.
