KENDARI - Police arrested two men suspected of carrying a package of methamphetamine when they were about to visit their colleague at the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police Detention Center (Polda).

Director of Narcotics Investigation of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police Kombes Bambang Tjahjo Bawono said the two initials S (27) and W (16) were arrested while trying to smuggle crystal methamphetamine into the Southeast Sulawesi Police Detention Center on Thursday (19/5).

"We confirmed the submission from the Directorate of Tahti (Detainees and Evidence) last night. Visitors brought methamphetamine which was put in food," he said, quoted by Antara, Friday, May 20.

He revealed that the two visitors were caught trying to smuggle four packages of crystal methamphetamine into the Polda Detention Center after the Tahti Directorate checked the visitors' belongings.

"After the SOP was carried out on the visitors, it turned out that evidence was found that there were four sachets that were inserted into the food to be sent to the detainees," he said.

Furthermore, the personnel of the Directorate of Tahti handed over the two visitors to the Directorate of Drug Investigation of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police for further investigation.

"So for the handling according to the procedure, we will continue to handle it and we will develop an investigation of the related networks. We can see where the goods are and then from whom," he said.

Currently, his party continues to carry out developments and investigations because of the two people, there is a witness status, namely W, who claims to have only been invited by the visitor S, who is currently being investigated.

"So there are two people, one person who brought the goods, one person as a witness, did not know anything about the goods carried by the person concerned," he said.

Both of them are still in detention at the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police's Narcotics Department for up to 3x24 hours. The police will determine their status after the inspection is complete.
