Gubsu Edy Supports Jokowi Loosening The Use Of Masks: If Continually Restricted, Communication Is Difficult, Economy Is Difficult

MEDAN - The policy of relaxing the use of masks in open spaces decided by President Joko Widodo was responded positively by the Governor of North Sumatra (Gubsu) Edy Rahmayadi.

Governor Edy admitted that he agreed with President Jokowi's policy. He considered that the easing of the use of masks conveyed by President Jokowi was a form of growing the economy of the people who had slumped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Because the President said that in the context of this economy, it must grow immediately. If it continues to be restrained like this, communication is difficult, we are afraid, it is difficult for our economy to recover as usual," said Governor Edy, Friday, May 20.

Even so, Gubsu Edy reminded the public to pay attention to conditions before removing masks.

"You can open the mask in conditions that we really believe are safe, open, and the number of people is not too many," he said.

Governor Edy also asked the public to continue to apply health protocols in places that have the potential to spread COVID-19, including vaccination.

"COVID is not over yet, we still have to be vigilant. The Kapolda, the Commander of the Regional Military Command (Kodam) continues to aggressively carry out vaccinations, why because that is the feeling of the government's presence to love its people. If someone is careless with COVID, with vaccines, so the virus comes," he concluded.
