KPK Has Not Been Able To Arrest Harun Masiku, ICW Believes Firli Bahuri Et Al Will Continue To Argue

JAKARTA - It is believed that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will continue to argue when it comes to their fugitive, Harun Masiku, who is a former legislative candidate (caleg) who bribed the former General Elections Commission (KPU) Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan.

This belief was conveyed by Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) researcher Kurnia Ramadhana. According to him, the KPK will do this, because up to 850 days after Harun has been fugitive, they have not been able to make any arrests.

"We believe that until the end of Firli cs' term as KPK commissioners, the anti-corruption agency will continue to argue with all its arguments to delay the search for Harun Masiku," Kurnia said in a written statement to reporters, Thursday, May 19.

However, ICW admitted that he was not surprised by this kind of action from the KPK. This is because Harun has not been caught yet, allegedly because the Chairman of the KPK, Firli Bahuri, is afraid of the figure allegedly related to the fugitive.

Kurnia also said that all statements from the KPK regarding the search for Harun Masiku were merely lip service.

"Even if there is a statement, both Firli and the Acting Spokesperson for KPK Enforcement, we suspect it is just lip service," he said.

As previously reported, KPK chairman Firli Bahuri confirmed that his party would continue to hunt down the fugitives, including Harun Masiku. They certainly will not be able to sleep well.

"There are several people that the KPK is looking for. I'm not mentioning one by one but not just one person, there are at least six people we are still looking for," Firli told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, 18 May.

Firli said Harun and the other fugitives who were not further specified would continue to be searched for at any time. The KPK is currently just waiting for time.

"I'm sure to this day he can't sleep well. Because the KPK will look for him at any time. It's only a matter of time before he will be caught," said the former Deputy for Enforcement of the KPK.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Harun Masiku as a suspect in giving bribes to KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan since January 2020. This bribery was carried out so that he would have the convenience of sitting as a member of the DPR RI through time shifts or PAW.

Harun's escape began when the KPK carried out an arrest operation regarding this case on January 8, 2020. In the silent operation, the KPK named four suspects, namely Harun Masiku, Wahyu Setiawan, former Bawaslu Member Agustiani Tio Fridelina, and Saeful Bahri.

It's just that Aaron, who was not caught by OTT, is unknown. He reportedly fled to Singapore and is said to have returned to Indonesia.

Apart from Harun, there are actually three other fugitives who have not been caught. They are Surya Darmadi who has been on the run since 2019; Izil Azhar has been fugitive since 2018; and Kirana Kotama who has been fugitive since 2017.
