JAKARTA - The Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) has revealed the practice of falsifying the validity of documents related to the placement fee for prospective Indonesian migrant workers to Taiwan. It was recorded that 10 companies spread across Jakarta, Bandung and Serang 'played' in this case.

Head of BP2MI Benny Rhamdani said that his party had received a letter from the Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) regarding the authenticity of the stamps of several BP2MI UPTs used in the document to legalize the cost of placing CPMI in Taiwan.

"BP2MI has sent a letter to TETO dated May 11, 2022 regarding the alleged falsification of documents legalizing the CPMI placement fee statement (SPBP) to Taiwan. What TETO alleged, we have stated the truth of the forgery," said Benny in a virtual press conference in Jakarta , Between, Thursday, May 19.

It is suspected that the practice of using a fake stamp and signature was carried out to facilitate the visa application process for CPMI who will work in Taiwan.

The practice of forgery was found in Serang, Jakarta, and Bandung with six companies in Serang being proven to have used the fake stamp of UPT BP2MI Serang and forged signatures of officers in SPBP documents. Meanwhile in Jakarta, four companies are suspected of forging the stamp of UPT BP2MI Jakarta.

For the Bandung area, a forged signature and stamp of one of the staff of UPT BP2MI Bandung was found on documents related to placement fees.

Benny said some evidence of fake stamps had been found and secured with several suspects of forgery having been identified. BP2MI has also reported the forgery to the police.

"BP2MI will take steps to send a letter to TETO to reject the visa application with fake documents and cancel the visa that has already been issued," said Benny Rhamdani.
