The Sea Wave Height In The South Of Lebak Touches 4 Meters, Fishermen, Tourists And Residents Please Be Alert

The southern coast of Lebak is quite dangerous for tourists who swim due to high waves and can cause marine accidents/ANTARA

BANTEN - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Banten Province asked tourists to be aware of high waves in the south of Lebak because they could cause marine accidents.

"We are concerned about a marine accident at Cibobis Vihara Beach that befell tourists from Pandeglang," said Banten Province BPBD Chief Executive Nana Suryana in Serang, Antara, Thursday, May 19.

Opportunities for the height of the southern waters of Lebak range from 2.5 to 4.0 meters, so it is quite dangerous to swim around the coast. Tourists, fishermen and the local community must of course be aware of the height of the waves.

Based on a report from the BMKG over the next few days the weather on the southern coast will worsen with wave heights likely to reach 4.0 meters.

"We ask tourists to be aware and follow the rules of local officials," he explained.

He said bad weather in the southern waters of Lebak included the coasts of Binuangeun Beach, Tanjung Panto, Bagedur, Sukahujan, Panggarangan, Bayah, Manuk Island, and Sawarna.

So far, the southern waters of Lebak which are directly opposite the waters of the Indian Ocean have a different character from the beaches in northern Banten.

The waves of the south coast character are quite high and there are many corals, so it is dangerous for tourists to swim around the beach. Therefore, the Banten BPBD has sent a warning letter for bad weather to the Polsek, Kesyahbandaran, TPI, beach security officers, hotel owners, and fishermen.

"We hope that by complying with the officers' directives, there will be no victims of marine accidents," he explained.

Meanwhile, Dani, a volunteer, said that a joint team consisting of Basarnas, BPBD, Polsek, TNI, PMI, Balawista volunteers and Pokdarwis are still searching for a tourist who has not been found.

"We hope this afternoon can be found," he said.

The marine accident at Cibobos Beach, Cihara south of Lebak, was as many as four tourists who swam and were swept away by high waves. The four tourists included Gepin (12), Rizki (13), Hamdi (13) and Arda (11).

Of the four tourists, Rizki and Gepin survived, Hamdi was reported dead and Arda had not been found. "All tourists are Pandeglang residents," he explained.
