Ahead Of National Immunization Month, West Kalimantan Prepares 11,530 Service Posts

WEST KALIMANTAN - A total of 11,530 immunization service posts in all districts/cities in West Kalimantan are preparing to welcome the 2022 National Immunization Month (BIAN).

"We have prepared 11,530 immunization posts throughout West Kalimantan to ensure the success of this year's BIAN", said Head of the West Kalimantan Provincial Health Office Harry Agung Tjahyadi in Pontianak, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, May 18.

He said that the first phase of BIAN was carried out from May 18 to June 18, 2022. "While the second phase will be carried out in August 2022 for the islands of Java and Bali", said Harry

According to him, BIAN includes the provision of additional immunizations in the form of measles-rubella immunization regardless of previous immunization status as well as the implementation of catch-up immunizations, the provision of one or more types of immunizations to complete basic immunizations as well as follow-up immunizations for children who have not received vaccinations according to their age.

Harry said the vaccination service during the National Immunization Month in West Kalimantan targeted 1,123,898 children aged nine months to 12 years.

West Kalimantan Governor Sutarmidji hopes that immunization services during the national child immunization month are better than the implementation of immunization during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I hope that the implementation of immunization for children aged nine months to less than 12 years can be carried out more easily than vaccination during the COVID-19 pandemic yesterday. Because this is what we all need and parents already know what to do for their child's growth and development to be better, more immune from various diseases", he concluded.
