Sandiaga Assigned By Vice President To Complete Recreational Sports Become Achievements

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said he was assigned by Vice President Ma'ruf Amin to develop recreational sports that were complemented by achievements.

"We have the task of making the Indonesian people have a fever for exercising," said Sandiaga, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, May 17.

With the existence of recreational sports, it is hoped that various talents from athletes in various sports will be able to excel. This is considered in line with the great design of the national sport.

Currently, the sports-based tourism sector (sports tourism) and tourism and recreation tourism are declared to be experiencing developments due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In this case, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is said to be facilitating the sports festival because it involves the movement of tourists.

"The festival that is designed later must increase tourist attraction, drive the national economy, and be able to open up potential employment opportunities," he said.

There are four sports-based tourism agendas that will be held this year. Starting from the 2022 Borobudur Marathon, then Audax or a 200-600 kilometer long-distance bicycle race which was held in several cities such as Jakara, Bekasi, Semarang, Manado, Solo, Padang, Surabaya, and Bandung.

Then there is also Ocean Man 2022, which is a swimming competition in the waters of Muaya Beach in Bali in July. Next up are the Samosir Lake Toba Ultra which will be held on 17 September, the Belitung Triathon, the FIBA Asia Cup or the Asian Basketball Confederation Championship on 12-14 July, and the World Superbike on 11-23 November.

"Later on, the festival will also be designed to stimulate the national economy, so they don't just run and bike, but also buy local creative products," said the Menparekraf.
