Jatanras South Sumatra Police Arrest Illegal Parking Attendants Who Extorted Hundreds Of Thousands Of Tourism Buses

PALEMBANG - Jatanras personnel from the Ditreskrimum of the South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) arrested illegal parking attendants who targeted tourism buses in the Monpera area, Ilir Barat 1, Palembang City at a rate of up to hundreds of thousands of rupiah.

"The perpetrator has now been brought to the South Sumatra Police Headquarters for further investigation regarding his actions that have disturbed the residents," said Head of Sub-Directorate III of Jatanras Ditreskrimum of South Sumatra Police Commissioner Agus Prihadinika in Palembang as reported by Antara, Monday, May 16.

Based on information gathered from the police, the perpetrator is a man with the initials TS (37) a resident of Jalan PSI Lautan, 35 Ilir Village, Ilir Barat II District, Palembang.

The perpetrator TS was arrested by the Opsnal Unit 1 Subdit III Jatanras team on Monday afternoon in handcuffs and bowed limply when he was arrested by the South Sumatra Police Headquarters.

The perpetrator TS was arrested for allegedly asking for a parking fee of Rp. 100,000 from a tourism bus in the Palembang Monpera tourist attraction without showing an official parking interpreter's permit from the transportation service.

The perpetrator's actions were revealed after the action was recorded by a local tour guide, then the video which lasted less than 1 minute went viral on the Instagram social media network on Sunday (15/5).

"It's only been 3 months as a parking attendant there (Monpera). For tourism bus vehicles, the tariff is set between IDR 30 thousand and IDR 100 thousand. If I get the money, I don't deposit it, but we share it with friends," said TS when the Opsnal team was led by Kanit I Kompol Willy Oscar and Aipda Kelvin Marley.
