Ridwan Kamil Tours Widya Chandra, Meets Zulkifli Hasan To Ask About The United Indonesia Coalition

JAKARTA - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil or Kang Emil made a political trip around the Widya Chandra Complex, South Jakarta to meet two important figures.

Those whom Ridwan Kamil met on Sunday, May 15 were Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto and Deputy Chairman of the MPR Zulkifli Hasan or Zulhas.

Starting his visit, Kang Emil—Ridwan Kamil's nickname—came to Zulhas' official residence. According to the General Chairperson of the National Mandate Party (PAN), the meeting was in the context of Eid al-Fitr gathering.

"This afternoon in the middle of raining Jakarta, I received a special guest from Bandung. The Governor of West Java @ridwankamil came all the way from Bandung to meet after Eid. We also had a long discussion for more than two hours," said Zulhas via his personal Twitter account @ ZUL_Hasan quoted Monday, 16 May.

In the two-hour meeting, Zulhas admitted that many topics were discussed. One of them, RK had time to ask Zulhas about the United Indonesia Coalition.

"Of course we also discussed the political and national situation today. Kang Emil asked about the United Indonesia Coalition that I just formed with Pak Airlangga and Pak Suharso last week," said Zulhas.

The United Indonesia Coalition is a coalition formed by the Golkar Party, PAN, and the United Development Party (PPP) on Thursday night, 12 May.

When asked that question, Zulhas said the focus of this coalition was to bring politics of ideas. He believes that Indonesia will be better if there are ideas, make breakthroughs, and maintain unity.

"Always healthy, Kang Emil. Thank you for visiting Widya Chandra," Zulhas wrote at the end of his tweet.

Apart from Zulhas, Kang Emil then visited the official residence of the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party, Airlangga, who was also in Widya Chandra.

After a closed meeting with Airlangga, Kang Emil briefly conveyed the West Java community's response to the United Indonesia coalition formed by Golkar, PAN and PPP. He claimed that his citizens responded positively to the existence of the coalition.

"Thirdly, there is news about the coalition, below is the good response to Pak Airlangga. Sir, this coalition has a very positive response and hopes and of course hopefully, it supports the rest of my position," said Ridwan Kamil.

Ridwan Kamil also confirmed that he would support the steps of the Golkar Party, including the aspirations of Airlangga in 2024. He said this was a return of gratitude because Golkar had brought and won him in the 2018 West Java Governor Election (Pilgub).

"I support Pak Airlangga's ideals. His capacity and responsibility are also large, including if later there are political dimensions that may not be counted from now on," said Kang Emil at the time.

"I will definitely return the favor to Golkar's support in West Java," he concluded.
