Throughout The 2020 Pilkada Stages, The National Police Handles 28 Criminal Violations

JAKARTA - The National Police has handled dozens of criminal cases out of hundreds of reports and findings during the 2020 simultaneous regional elections. Some of them have even been delegated to court.

"The number of reports or findings is 136 cases, then 28 cases were forwarded to the National Police," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono to reporters, Wednesday, October 14.

Awi said there were at least 4 cases that had entered stage 2. Then, a dozen others were still in the investigation process.

"(The process of) investigating there are 14 cases, then stage 1 (there are) one case, P19 one case, P21 one case, stage 2 (there are) four cases and the last SP3 (there are) 7 cases," said Awi.

Then, Awi detailed that of the dozens of cases, there were 8 of them related to forgery of 4 cases, did not carry out the verification process and recapitulated 4 cases.

Then, 2 cases of official transfer carried out six months before running as candidate pairs, 2 cases related to eliminating a person's right to become a candidate and one case of political dowry.

Furthermore, money politics consisted of 3 cases, actions benefited or harmed one candidate pair 9 cases, prevented the election from carrying out the task of 1 case, and campaigned insulting, instigating 2 cases of SARA.

Based on enforcement data, the Polda ranks carried out 285 preventive activities during 13 and 14 October. Mostly done in 5 provinces.

"The North Sumatra Regional Police have 45 activities, 30 Central Kalimantan Police, 29 West Sumatra Regional Police, 17 South Kalimantan Regional Police and 16 Central Java Regional Police," he said.
