JAKARTA - The Governor of Central Java who is also the Chair of the Alumni Family of Gadjah Mada University (Kagama), Ganjar Pranowo fully supports the innovation of the Bimasakti formula racing car. He hopes that the work of UGM students can win another international competition in the Netherlands.
"This is cool, the work of the nation's children from UGM can design a car and continue the work of their seniors. They are the tenth generation who made this car and are currently ranked 114th out of all countries, they will compete again in the Netherlands and of course we will must provide full 'support'," he said, quoted by Antara, Sunday, May 15.
According to Ganjar, this kind of research and development program must be supported because students who are full of innovation must be accompanied, from the government, companies, communities and others.
"This kind of research must be supported. Yes, usually the budget constraint, then CSR can be directed here. It could also be those who pay taxes, tax deductions are given and given to researchers like these young people," he said.
Ganjar stated that he would provide support so that the Bimasakti formula racing car could become a champion in the Student Formula event in the Netherlands later.
"Hopefully they will win, but they need all of our support. Now what is needed is financial support because the others feel okay. This must be developed for us to realize transportation technology in the future. They have proven it, making racing cars with all their innovations, in my opinion great," he said.
Bimasakti Team Leader Aditya said that in July 2022 his party will participate in Student Formula activities in the Netherlands.
"Engineering competitions between students from various countries and the contested are car design, car speed, 'performance' and from a business perspective," he said.
He revealed that there were three competitions that could be followed, namely in Austria, the Netherlands and Hungary, but due to limitations, his party only chose the Student Formula in the Netherlands.
"For that we really hope for the support of all parties. From the government several ministries have helped, from the campus as well as from the community, but we still need support so that this can be developed again," he said.
The hope is that with Ganjar Pranowo as the chairman of Kagama who visited the workshops for these students, it can open up the wider community's horizons.
"And with our ongoing research, we hope to get support from all parties," he said.
