Viral Video Of GPII Office Damaged Mess, Police Talk Of The Process Of Arresting The Rioting Mass

JAKARTA - Videos circulating on social media showing the office of the Indonesian Islamic Youth Movement (GPII) are in disrepair and disarray. This video is given a narrative about the repressive actions of the police.

Based on the video diutas instagaram account @ farid_sudrajat it GPII office located in Menteng, Central Jakarta look messy. The door to one of the rooms was hollow. In fact, the floor appeared to be stained with blood.

Regarding the video, Head of Public Relations at Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said that no damage was done by the police. According to Yusri, the police are currently arresting rioters.

The incident started when hundreds of people from the rioters burned and closed the road. The police also tried to disperse the masses.

"The appeal was not heeded so the officers tried to push and they ran into all kinds of alleys, yes, there were about 300 to 400 people. They fled and even entered the GPII," Yusri told reporters, Wednesday, October 14.

The officers chased the fleeing crowd. One of them went to the GPII office. So, those who fled there were secured.

"There we secure those 4 people that we will protect and understand," said Yusri.

But Yusri could not confirm that those who were arrested were members of the GPII or not. Because, they are still in the examination process.

"We are still exploring it. I am not saying no but because we go into it so that is what we secure," he said.
