Long Waisak Holiday, West Java Police Anticipate A Wave Of Tourists

BANDUNG - The West Java Regional Police (Polda) anticipates a potential wave of people who will travel to a number of tourist attractions in West Java during the long holiday to coincide with Vesak Day in mid-May 2022.

The Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Kombes Ibrahim Tompo, said that during this long holiday, there were still a lot of tourists due to the impact of the relaxation of mobility since the 2022 Eid holiday.

"We are anticipating it, because the spirit of the community is still like Eid after two years of not being given leeway, so we are also anticipating tourist attractions," said Ibrahim in Bandung, quoted by Antara, Friday, May 13.

Even though it has been relaxed, according to him, the COVID-19 pandemic is not completely over. So, he said, health protocols still need to be applied by the public when traveling, including when at tourist sites.

He said police personnel would also continue to check the compliance of tourist site managers in implementing health protocols, to implementing visitor capacity limits.

"We are coordinating to continue to apply health protocols for restrictions because currently, especially the Bandung area, it is still PPKM Level 2, the capacity is adjusted to Level 2," he said.

In addition, according to him, the mobility of tourists in urban areas is also something to be anticipated. Because, he said, shopping centers or malls also have the potential to be crowded with visitors.

According to him, the West Java Regional Police also increased the anticipation of disturbances in public security and order during the long Vesak holiday by holding Enhanced Routine Activities (KRYD) as a substitute for the 2022 Ketupat Operation.

"With the attention of the Regional Police Chief, preparations have been made, attention has been given to all regional units to prepare KRYD," he said.
