For May Day Celebration Tomorrow, Police Ask The Community To Stay Away From GBK Senayan Area Due To Traffic Congestion

JAKARTA - Traffic Director of Metro Jaya Police, Grand Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo appealed to vehicle users to avoid the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK) Senayan, Jakarta, on Saturday, May 14, tomorrow.

The reason is mass action by the workers, the May Day Fiesta.

"There will be tens of thousands of workers, so we urge all Jakarta residents to avoid the Senayan area on Saturday, May 14 from morning to evening," said Grand Commissioner Sambodo, Friday, May 13.

The mass action at GBK is expected to start on Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, he continued, for Saturday morning there were several elements of the masses who would demonstrate in front of the DPR MPR.

After that, they will carry out a long march to GBK to join a mass group of workers who will celebrate Labor Day as the May Day Fiesta.

"Also avoid the front route of the MPR DPR, meaning Gatsu, Senayan, Gerbang Pemuda, Asia Afrika, and Jend Sudirman Street area should be avoided," he said.

Traffic Directorate of Metro Jaya Police estimates that around 800 to 1000 buses will arrive from participants in the May Day celebration.

For this reason, the Traffic Directorate of Metro Jaya Police will also arrange buses that come to GBK on May Day tomorrow so that after the action, participants can easily find their bus at GBK later.

Grand Commissioner Sambodo said, at the day fiesta activities tomorrow there will be traffic congestion at several entrances to GBK.

"The door next to 10 is in front of TVRI and door 7 is in front of the Sultan Hotel. When doors 10 and 7 are overcrowded, we enter at door 5 near FX later we can go to GBK. (Tomorrow, GBK) not closed but the general public should avoid the area," he said.
