BMKG Asks 10 Seasonal Zones In NTT To Increase Water Supply As It Enters The Dry Season

KUPANG - Class II Kupang Climatology Station, Meteorology, Geophysics and Climatology Agency (BMKG) reported that as many as 10 season zones (zom) in the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) region have entered the 2022 dry season.

"Currently there are 10 zom in NTT which has entered the dry season, while 13 zom are still experiencing the rainy season," said BMKG Kupang Class II Climatology Station Head Rahamttulloh Adji in Kupang, Antara, Thursday, May 12.

He said this was related to the development of the beginning of the dry season in NTT which was renewed as of May 10, 2022.

The 10 zones include zone 243 which covers the southeastern part of West Manggarai and Ngada, southern part of Manggarai, East Manggarai, and Nagekeo, zone 247 in southern Sikka and southwest part of East Flores, zone 248 in northern Sikka and eastern Flores. Northwest.

In addition, zoom 249 North East Flores, 250 Adonara, Solor and Lembata, 251 Alor and Pantar, 254 northern East Sumba and Central Sumba, 256 Sabu Raijua, 257 Rote Ndao and 259 South Central Timor. South side.

Rahmattulloh appealed to the people in the zom area to anticipate the impact of the dry season in the form of drought by having sufficient water supplies to meet their needs.

Agricultural production activities, he said, need to be prioritized on plants that do not require a lot of water so that they can still produce during the dry season.

He said temporarily for people in areas that are still experiencing the rainy season to take advantage of the remaining rainfall to prepare for the dry season.

"People can collect water to anticipate the upcoming dry season," he said.

Rahmattulloh hopes that the people in NTT can adapt well during the dry season so that the potential impact of losses can be minimized.
