JAKARTA - Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya is again looking at the Meikarta area as an arena for street racing events to facilitate motorcycle enthusiasts at high speed.

"Street races are carried out to minimize street racing. So the format is in accordance with the format of street racing children," said Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo to reporters, Wednesday, May 11.

Kombes Sambodo said that the street race was planned to be held simultaneously with the Formula E race on June 4, 2022 at the Jakarta E-Prix International Circuit (JIEC) Ancol.

"We will hold the Meikarta street race in June, maybe it's time for us to do it after Formula E in Meikarta," he said.

Later, the Dirlantas Polda Metro Jaya will dispatch a team to inspect the location of the street race. This time's event, continued Sambodo, will be enlivened by music festival entertainment.

"We will make a bigger celebration, combined with an art and music festival," he said.

The concept of street racing regulations will be adjusted like young people who do illegal racing on the streets but converted into official racing facilitated by the government.

"There are no 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners but (only) we provide a place for speed competition at the location," he said.
