Capital City Moves, DPRD Chair Asks Central Government To Delegate Management Of Protocol Roads And 13 Rivers To DKI Provincial Government

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi, asked the central government, in this case the Ministry of PUPR, to transfer ownership, including the management of protocol roads and 13 rivers in Jakarta, to the DKI Provincial Government.

Examples of protocol roads that Prasetyo meant were Jalan Sudirman and Jalan MH Thamrin. Meanwhile, the 13 rivers flowing in Jakarta are the Ciliwung, Angke, Pesanggrahan, Grogol, Krukut, West Baru, Mookevart, East Baru, Cipinang, Sunter, Buaran, Jati Kramat and Cakung rivers.

Prasetyo said that the handover of the management of the road and river sections would make the task easier. Given, in the next few years the capital city of the country will move from Jakarta to East Kalimantan.

"There are 13 rivers in Jakarta, there are protocol roads, that's the way of the central government. It's better if I ask the PUPR Minister if they want to move the national capital, leave it to DKI," Prasetyo told reporters, Tuesday, May 10.

Prasetyo assessed that the DKI Provincial Government has sufficient equipment and human resources that can manage the protocol roads and 13 rivers.

With optimal management, Prasetyo believes the DKI Provincial Government can alleviate congestion and flooding which have become classic problems in Jakarta.

"There are only two problems in Jakarta, traffic jams and flooding. How do we find a solution? So, we don't have to worry about making mistakes, between the central government and regional governments. That's all, it's not complicated," he said.
