Many Hoaxes Regarding The Job Creation Law, Minister Of Defense Prabowo: There Is Foreign Interference

JAKARTA - Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto believes there are parties riding the demonstration by the public to reject the Omnibus Law on Cipta Kerja on Thursday, October 8.

This conviction arose because people who objected had not read the full legislation that was just passed on Monday, October 5. So, they are easily consumed by fake news or hoaxes that are deliberately spread by irresponsible parties.

"So there are a lot of demonstrations today, haven't read the results of the omnibus law and many are hoaxes. There are hoaxes everywhere," Prabowo said as quoted in his video statement, Tuesday, October 13.

The chairman of the Gerindra Party asked all parties to be careful. Because, he did not deny the possibility that there were parties who deliberately created chaos to take advantage of himself and his group.

He said, this chaos could have been done deliberately by parties from abroad by taking advantage of figures in Indonesia who were not aware of being pitted against each other.

"I want to give a warning, this hoax means that someone wants to create chaos. Now, and I have a belief that this comes from abroad. There are foreign powers, certain countries that never like Indonesia to be safe and advanced," he said.

"The characters we saw, he believed he was right, but he did something that he was not aware that this was actually someone else's game. And we, I always say, from hundreds of years ago we were pitted against each other," added the former Kopassus Danjen.

Even so, Prabowo fully understands the difficulties of society, especially workers, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. For this reason, he claims, the party he leads, the Gerindra Party, will continue to fight for labor rights.

Prabowo said, when the Omnibus Law on Job Creation began to be discussed at the Indonesian Parliament, his party always tried to prioritize workers' worthiness. He said that his party was even among the toughest to accommodate labor demands.

As a result, he said, as much as 80 percent of the workers' wishes could be accommodated in the law which recently received rejection.

"The Gerindra Party is also the one that defends the interests of all and earnestly. 80 percent of the workers' requests have been accommodated," he explained.

Furthermore, Prabowo also asked workers and elements of society to refrain from carrying out demonstrations. Moreover, currently the COVID-19 pandemic is happening and the demonstration is only based on hoax information whose mastermind is unknown.

"I am very concerned. This is COVID again. Try to be patient, fix it first, we will try to fix it. If later this law is not good, if it is not implemented, take it to a judicial review. Bring it to the Constitutional Court," he concluded.
