JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said PPKM outside Java and Bali was extended for two weeks from 10 to 16 May 2022.

"Regarding the extension of PPKM outside Java (and Bali) it will be extended for the next two weeks. At the direction of the President, PPKM continues to be extended and this is extended by 2 weeks," said Airlangga in a virtual press conference, Monday, May 9.

In the implementation of PPKM, there has been a decrease in the number of regions implementing PPKM Level 3 from 39 to 22 districts/cities.

Meanwhile, there was an increase in the number of Level 2 PPKM areas from 216 to 276 districts/cities. Then, the regions that implemented PPKM Level 1 were from 131 to 88 districts/cities.

Airlangga explained that the effective reproduction rate (Rt) of COVID-19 cases outside Java-Bali had decreased. However, the Rt number on the island of Sumatra is still at number 1.

Meanwhile, the Rt figure in Papua Island is 0.99, Maluku is 0.97, Kalimantan is 0.99, Nusa Tenggara is 0.99, and Sulawesi is 0.98.

"This means that outside Java and Bali, all cases are sloping and the highest is in Lampung, but hospital conversions and isolation are relatively low," said Airlangga.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan the government also extended PPKM in Java and Bali despite the improving conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic and many easing of activity restrictions.

"To this day, the PPKM Java-Bali rules are still and will be implemented for an undetermined time following the results of regular evaluations led directly by the President," said Luhut.

Luhut said, in monitoring the PPKM level assessment as of 7 May, there are no more districts/cities in Java-Bali that apply PPKM Level 4. Then, those that apply PPKM Level 3 leave 1 area.

"There are no regencies/cities that are at Level 4, only Pamekasan Regency which is still at Level 3 due to inadequate vaccination levels. The details of this decision will be stated in the Inmendagri which will be issued in the near future," he said.
