This Is The Reason The South Solok Regency Government Does Not Extend The Eid Holiday For Schoolchildren

JAKARTA - The government of South Solok Regency, West Sumatra through the local Education, Youth and Sports Office has not extended this year's Eid holiday for school children. The reason is that students and their families are generally in the area.

"According to a circular letter from the leadership (regional head, ed.) previously there has been no notification to extend the school holiday, so school entry remains on May 9," said Head of the South Solok Education, Youth and Sports Office Syamsuria in Padang Aro, Saturday.

For parents of students who are immigrants and are currently on their way back to South Solok but are stuck in traffic, they are given three days of leeway.

"For immigrant families who are currently stuck in traffic, parents don't need to worry. We will give them three days of leeway. On Monday we will issue circulars to schools," he said.

Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy said that the school holiday was extended until Thursday, May 12.

The move to change the school's entry schedule, he said, was to avoid severe traffic jams at the peak of the backflow that will occur from May 6 to 8, 2022.

Regulatory evaluation

Syamsuria said the local district government would evaluate regulations on face-to-face learning in relation to vaccination of students.

The South Solok Regency Government previously made a regulation that face-to-face learning is only for students who have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

"The progress of student vaccination has reached 70 percent. We will evaluate this regulation (face-to-face learning, ed.)

On that occasion, his party still appealed to parents of students to allow their children to be vaccinated against COVID-19 so that the child's immune system would improve.

"We also convey to parents that students who have been vaccinated so far are in a safe condition and even look healthier," he said.
