I Dewa Kade Wiarsa Replaces Wahyu Setiawan As Commissioner Of The KPU

JAKARTA - Wahyu Setiawan has officially resigned from his position as Commissioner of the General Election Commission (KPU). KPU chairman Arief Budiman said the position left by Wahyu at this time would be filled by I Dewa Kade Wiarsa Raka Sandi.

Arief said that commissioners who were unable to carry out their duties or were unable to carry out their duties would still be replaced by the names of KPU commissioner candidates who were in the eighth rank during the fit and proper test in 2017.

"If I am not mistaken, Mr. I Dewa Kade Wiarsa Raka Sandi replaced the serial number," he said, during a press conference at the KPU office, Jalan Imam Bonjol, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Friday, January 10.

According to Arief, the replacement of the commissioner officers will be carried out after Wahyu's resignation process is complete. Tonight the Indonesian KPU will send Wahyu's resignation letter to President Joko Widodo.

As is known, the KPU has seven commissioners. In the vote count for the 2017 KPU commissioner candidates, Pramono Ubaid Tanthowi was in first place with 55 votes. In succession followed by, Wahyu Setiawan (55), Ilham Saputra (54), Hasyim Asy'ari (54), Viryan (52), Evi Novida (48), and Arief Budiman (30). Meanwhile, I Dewa Kade Wiarsa Raka Sandi, who will later replace Wahyu, is in eighth place with 21 votes.

I Dewa Kade Wiarsa currently serves as a member / Kordiv of Data and Information Law, Bawaslu of Bali Province. Previously, he was the Chairperson of the Bali KPU for the 2013-2018 period. This Balinese son who was born in Yeh Sumbul, Jembrana, November 21, 1970, previously served as a member of the KPU Bali for the period 2008-2013 and Director of CV Asia Raya Mediatama in 2004-2008.

Raka is an alumnus from the Faculty of Engineering UGM (1999), the Faculty of Law, Udayana University 2016), and the Postgraduate Program in Cultural Studies from Udayana University (2016).

This decision also refers to the rules contained in Law number 7 of 2017 concerning general elections (Pemilu), paragraph 5 concerning the dismissal of article 34 point (4).
