JAKARTA - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero) has prepared KM Ciremai to sail the Panjang Port route, Lampung to Ciwandan Port, Cilegon in order to anticipate the surge of homecomers from Sumatra to Java Island in the return flow.

Head of the Corporate Secretariat of PT Pelni Opik Taupik said KM Ciremai was alerted to serve a special route based on the assignment from the Ministry of Transportation until Saturday, May 7.

"KM Ciremai, which has sent participants for the Free Motorcycle Homecoming at Surabaya's Tanjung Perak Port, is currently receiving the assignment," said Opik in a statement quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 4.

Opik explained that KM Ciremai is planning to help carry passengers on the ASDP ferry.

"Pelni does not sell tickets for the route during operation, so the ship's duty is only to deliver passengers. Tickets are still purchased online to ASDP through the Ferizy ticket purchase application," he said.

On Friday (29/4), KM Ciremai departed from Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, bringing participants for the Free Motorcycle Homecoming to Semarang and Surabaya.

If according to schedule, KM Ciremai will continue its voyage to Makassar to Sorong.

KM Ciremai itself is a multi-functional ship owned by PELNI because it can transport passengers, vehicles, and goods.

This ship has a carrying capacity of 948 pax passengers, 1,700 vehicles (motorcycles and small vehicles), and 65 TEUs for freight transport.

Specifically for this return assignment, KM Ciremai made shipping adjustments to the route of Surabaya - Semarang - Lampung - Cilegon - Surabaya - Semarang - Tanjung Priok.

"KM Ciremai will go to Surabaya on Saturday (7/5) to carry out an assignment from the Ministry of Transportation in the free motorbike homecoming program by ship. The ship will depart from Surabaya on Monday (9/5) to Semarang and ends at Tanjung Port. Priok, Jakarta," he concluded.
